A Thanksgiving Craft

9 Nov
The boys and I decided to make a table runner for Thanksgiving. We’ll be in Louisiana for Katie’s wedding, so Mom and Kate will be able to enjoy it too.

This is a really simple craft if you’d like to try it. I got 3 yards of brown burlap and cut it in half lengthwise. The actual length is up to you. I like runners that are longer rather than shorter.

Fray each of the edges. I counted 15 strands of burlap and pulled them off. I like the unfinished raw look with burlap.

Then paint the kids’ hands with a foam brush. Help them place their hand on the fabric making sure you lift it straight up.

When you are done, let the paint dry completely. I sew the edges at the fray line so it doesn’t fray any more.

Heat set it in the dryer for 20-30 minutes. Enjoy!!

This turned out SO CUTE!!! What a crafty mama you are – and fearless! To let children loose at the table with paint (no doubt it was washable). You rock, Mama!!!
