21 Dec

We packed up the Hotyssey and headed up to Durham yesterday.  Charles tried to keep the surprise from Betsy but couldn’t.  He was just too excited I guess.  Kate, Brandon, William, Zachary, Amelia and I helped celebrate Betsy’s 30th birthday by invading their house.  Isn’t that what everyone wants for their birthday???

First we jumped around…

Then we all went outside.  William and Zachary found lots of sticks and leaves to play with.  Then Uncle Charles decided it would be a great time to swing the boys around until…

they couldn’t stand up anymore.  Notice the spinning eyes.
We really had a lot of fun.  It was the first time we were able to go up there.
It was only about 3 hours going there, but because we had to drive through Charlotte at 6pm, it took a little longer coming back.  I drove, Kate didn’t get sick in the passenger seat and Brandon was the surrogate father.  He did an amazing job.
His duties included:
finding and retrieving the lost duckie,
setting up breakfast in the car,
keep fighting to a minimum,
trading out the 3 toys (one of the toys being the middle seatbelt) that they played with the entire time,
buckling Zachary,
putting on shoes and socks,
teaching drums,
calming crying children and babies,
and keeping morale up
for 6 1/2 hours.
He passed.
