Birthday Party

9 Mar

We had William’s birthday gathering on Thursday evening.  AK and Uncle Michael and Grandad were able to come.  And our wonderful sweet friends the Burnetts also came.  Will and Hoyt were in Boy Scouts together many, many moons ago.  His wife Sarah and I get along beautifully, and we can finally say we’ve attained the “couple friend” status.  For all you married people out there, you know what I mean.  Couple friends are so incredibly hard to find.  It’s fine to have girlfriends and guys to have their buddies.  But that doesn’t always mean the spouses mesh.  I don’t mean just getting along.  I mean, REALLY meshing.  We mesh.  It’s a very good thing.   I digress…

So we had pizza and cookie cake and a few presents.  It was technically a “pirate party” because I had pirate plates and napkins.  I won’t tell you the lengths I went to to find spaceship party gear.  None to be found in Columbia.  None.  So we had pirates.  Here are a few shots.  I’ll be back tomorrow with more…

William enjoying his pizza

Blowing out the candles with lots of assistance

Zachary and Nathan drooling over the presents

If this doesn’t make you laugh, what will?  Lucy Grace is the most adorable thing ever.  Such a doll.

No spaceship party gear in Columbia? Did the legislature outlaw science? Did Cromer’s burn down again? Another reason I’m glad I left Smallville…

Awesome pics, better than anything that they could do in Boston. Cory, if you see this comment, please email me at All of my messages to you get bounced back. Lorien, I’m proud of the pictures, but even more proud that you are such a wonderful mom!

    Love, Will
