it’s on like donkey kong.

5 Feb

we got it.

we’re getting our house.

THE most adorable, charming, 99-year-old-perfect house for us.

it’s been a very hairy few days.  the family we’re buying it from is great.  we negotiated our side of the deal.  but they were trying to purchase and immediately renovate an old home and THAT seller was giving them fits.  thus, giving us fits.  i’m talking crazy, i-have-no-fingernails-left fits.  at 3pm yesterday, i texted will that the anticipation of the house situation ranked on par with finding out what the sex of our babies was.  and we had to wait a whole 9 months for that.

i kept reminding myself to trust and not be afraid…that God doesn’t dangle things in front of your face and then take them away on a whim…that His good and perfect will for us would happen no matter what our housing situation looked like…trust and not be afraid.  i told myself all of those things not just yesterday, but the day before that, and the day before that and every day since january.

and when i got the email, i slowly read “the deal went through” about 5 times before it started to sink in.

we have a place to go.  it’s perfect for us.  we now have a move week (march 14).  and all of the things that need to be done before then can be done because we have an address.

step 1:  order adorable address stamp.

step 2:  register children for school.

step 3:  cry.

the Prospect House (which it shall be called henceforth until a new name can be established…and no “Prospect Pad”) highlights:

  • a room known as “The Mosh Pit”
  • a tire swing hanging from a 200 year old white oak tree
  • a deliciously large kitchen with a loooooong bar
  • a laundry chute that runs from the kids’ bathroom, down through the kitchen into the basement
  • a real, live PANTRY (if you’ve ever seen my current pantry, you’ll understand the significance of this)
  • a 20 ft. high magnetic chalkboard in the mosh pit
  • transom windows over built in bookshelves
  • an adorable front porch begging for white charleston-style rocking chairs
  • a trail and a creek just down the hill from the backyard
  • a MAGNETIC doggie door that maggie will fit in
  • and this adorable street:

currently taking suggestions for a house name….thoughts?

WOOT! Hooray for old houses- charm that cannot be replicated. Praise the Lord!
I’m with Janet, we need a picture of the house to name it. Also a street name and description of the ‘hood.

Dreams do come true! The Prospect House sounds lovely. And fun. What kid doesn’t dream of having their own mosh pit!

…brings to mind our evening bedtime chant, “the Lord is good, He is so good to me.”
